Number one heroine of Kannada film industry undoubtedly is Ramya. Her real name is Divya Spandana born 29 November 1981 in Bangalore, Karnataka. She was interested in dance since her school days in St. Hilda School in Ooty. While completing her graduation at St. Josephs College of Commerce, in Bangalore, she offer a Kannada movie.

Her first move, ABHI was against Puneet Rajkumar, the power star of Kannada. Directed by Dinesh Babu, the movie Abhi became a big hit. Thus started career graphy of Golden Girl of Kannada.

Ramya is favorite of all filmmakers, as well the audience. Offers flooded to act against all the leading heroes of Kannada - beside Puneet Rajkumar, Prem, Dharshan, Upendra, Aadithya.

Ramya is happy with the Dinakar directed film 'Jothe Jotheyalli'. In 'Jyoteyali Jyoteyali', Ramya is paired with Nenapirali Prem. Ramya acted in Thananam Thananam directed by award winning director Kavitha Lankesh. In the movie Arrasu, Ramya shines in the emotional sequences. Arrasu is a must watch for all the sections of the people.

Ramya made her debut in Tamil film Industry with Silambarsan in Kuttu. Which is popular hit of Tamil. Other Tamil followed, like Giri, Thoondil, Vaaranam Aayiram, Polladhan against the heroes like Silambarsan, Arjun, Shaam, Surya and Dhanush. In Malayalam movie Vismayathumbathu directed by Fazil, she played the role of a ghost, pair with Mallu superstar Mohanlal.

Ramya has also acted in a new short film, which was made to create AIDS awareness. The story of the film was by Meera Nair and the film was directed by none other than Santosh Sivan.

# Ramya entered the sandalwoood industry with Kannada superhit movie “Abhi” starring against Puneet Rajkumar. It is to be noted that having faith in astrology her original name was changed from “Divya Spandana” to “Ramya” as her screen name. But she retains the origanal name “Divya” in her Tamil films, so only in tamilnadu she is popularly known as Divya only.

# She worked hard to loss a few kilos of weight in order to fit into the role of kannada film “Arrasu” and ultimately she was slim and charming after losing nearly eight kg .

Divya Spandana, had her debut in the 2003 Kannada film Abhi, alongside Puneet Rajkumar. She was supposed to have been introduced in Appu, but somehow, due to certain reasons, couldnt make it.
Her final release in 2008 was vaaranam Aayiram . And for this Gowtham menon's film, she changed her screen name to her actual name Divya again,. This is because, she believes that this name is her lucky one. She had also dubbed in her own voice for the movie, which became a high critical as well as commercial success.
She is also the brand ambassador for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
